Recently, the demand for rental cars in Georgia has surged due to a rush of Korean companies entering the U.S. market. To capitalize on rising vehicle prices, many individuals are selling their existing cars and opting for rentals while postponing new car purchases.
To understand the essential precautions when using rental cars, we conducted an interview with SJ Rent‑a‑Car, a company backed by investments and expertise from publicly listed companies in Korea.
SJ Rent‑a‑Car, operated by Auto Gallery—a comprehensive automotive sales group with a 20-year tradition—provided insights through managers Jenny Ok and Daniel Kim. They shared key considerations for customers when renting a vehicle.

Manager Jenny Ok emphasized, “Above all, you must confirm whether the rental car company provides Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance.” She noted that some rental agencies advertise “full coverage” but only offer liability insurance without CDW, leaving renters responsible for repair costs in case of an accident, which poses significant risk.

We maintain the initially agreed-upon rental fees and adhere strictly to our commitments with customers.” She further explained that despite significant increases in rental costs due to supply issues in the automotive market post-pandemic, SJ Rent‑a‑Car minimizes costs by purchasing vehicles directly from auctions, enabling them to offer competitive pricing. “While purchasing vehicles has become increasingly difficult due to the pandemic, Auto Gallery Group, to which SJ Rent‑a‑Car belongs, operates nine new and used car dealerships in Georgia and maintains an inventory of over 1,500 vehicles, allowing for immediate provision of a variety of near-new rental cars,” she added.
